Sikh History Exhibition at Royal Easter Show

SIKH HISTORY EXHIBITION AT SYDNEY ROYAL EASTER SHOW

Thanks to the following Guru-Ke-Piarey volunteers, the Sikh History Exhibition at Sydney’s Royal Easter Show was great success: -

1. Sardar Gurpreet Singh (Ex-Secretary Revesby Gurdwara) (from 7am to 11am)

2. Sardar Paramjit Singh (Minto) Water Board Engineer & Punjabi/English Interpreter (from 11am to 7pm)

3. Sardar Sukhvinder Singh, always tyar-bar-tyar volunteer (from 11am to 7pm) – He is also our volunteer photographer.

4. Sardarni Parminder Kaur, a great Sikh lady always ready to devote her time for the community; (11am to 7pm).

5. Jasmeen Kaur, Youth volunteer (from 7am to 11am and then from 4pm to 7pm)

6. Das-n-Das Kulbir Singh (from 7am to 11am and then from 4pm to 7pm)


More than 1,000 people visited Sikh community's stall, which was 4 times more than any other community's stall; and wrote beautiful comments in the "visitor's book" My visitors asked more and more questions and there was lot of inter-action between the visitor and volunteers. Approximately 25 persons stayed there for more than 10 minutes, two stayed for over 20 minutes and had very interesting discussions.


The exhibition on Sikh history was complied with the help of data and photographs received from Bibi Manpreet Kaur (SBS Radio), Kuljit Kaur Jassal (Perth) and the following books/References:

The exhibition was divided into following Sections

I.  AUSTRALIAN SIKH HISTORY – Nine A3 size posters

2. Sikhs, ANZAC and Gallipoli. – Five A3 size posters

3. Sikh Sports-Persons & Sikh Turban – four A3 size posters

4. Sikh way of living – Four A2 size posters (Thanks to uncle Baveja ji for timely arranging these poster just few hours before the exhibition)

5. Continuous Video Show of turban tying.

6. Two books of Exhibition in A4 size for handicapped people to sit and go through the book.

7. Distribution of literature on Sikhism & Turban

8. Two visitor's books for writing comments.


We will always remain thankful to above named volunteers for making this historic exhibition a great success.


This exhibition was also on display at the Revesby Gurdwara from 30 March to 15th April 07 and will continue to be there on display for another week till 21st April 07.


This exhibition Sikh History is now available for display at other places.


I have already received a request from Paklea Gurdwara and Central Library for displaying this exhibition.
