Main Rules
1. Compulsory dress code for all groups except “S” Group: Punjabi dress with Dastar/Dupatta of Blue, Black, white or Kesri colour
2. Competitor (Solo) will be given 5 to 10 minutes, warning bell will ring after 9 minutes. For group participation time allowed is 8 to 12 minutes, warning bell will ring after 11 minutes.
3. Only one accompanist (Tabla) allowed for solo competition. (make your own arrangements)
4. Bonus marks for singing in Nirdharit Raags and also for singing by memorizing, without use of notes, Amrit Kirtan, etc.
5.
Bonus Marks for singing without Harmonium and with string instruments like Taanpura, violin, Rabab, etc.
6. Negative marks for singing in film tunes & using electronic key board.
7. All the participants to report 15 minutes before the start, that is at 4.45pm on Friday & at 9.45am on Saturday. Late comers will be disqualified.
8. Bonus marks to group participants playing instruments along with singing.
Additional Rules for Groups D, E & F
1. Singing by memorising without using notes, Amrit Kirtan etc.
2. Introduction in Punjabi.
Instruments Solo Rules
1. Introduction instrument & item to be played (swj AqyAvwj dI jwnkwrI[)
Main Assessment Criterion
1. Clear & correct pronunciation (SuD gurbwxI aucwrx) & time limit.
2. Tune and beat (sur qwl Aqy rs)
3. Overall performance which includes dress, Gurudwara etiquette, face expression, etc
4. Introduction of Shabad in Punjabi before the start.
Awards & Prizes
1 Medal, certificates & gifts for all the participants.
2 Gift vouchers worth $50, $30 & $20 for 1st, 2nd & 3rd position, respectively, under each solo group
3 Running Trophy for Group choir winner
4 Running Trophy for the best male & female performer based on the overall performance among all the groups and skills shown such as vocal, instrumental, etiquettes, dress, etc.
